University listing sources

Public references used for directory research and guidance on location accuracy.

Public university directory references

These public directories and government or sector sources can be used to check institutional names. They are references for further verification, not proof that all 1,123 entries were individually verified against current registers. Sources may use different definitions: universities, colleges, institutes, campuses, or accredited providers.

Are these Top 100 rankings?

No. Most countries do not publish an official nationwide Top 100 university ranking. India has a separate official NIRF university ranking; the directory also includes engineering institutes and other institutions outside that list. For other countries, inclusion means a searchable reference entry, not a rank or endorsement.

How map coordinates are assigned

223 approximate campus references (teardrop pins with a cap): campus-area coordinates entered by hand for well-known universities — including the most-searched US, UK, India, Australia and Canada universities. They are approximate, not entrances or department buildings. 900 city-centre references (rings): geographic city or town centres, not verified university grounds. Where several rings share one city centre, the markers are fanned out slightly on the map so each can be clicked; the listed coordinates stay at the city reference. Official website links are shown only where the address is known; otherwise the card offers a web-search link. Exact faculty buildings, additional campuses and entrances have not been checked entry by entry.

Data limitations

University status, spelling, mergers, university websites and campus arrangements can change. Verify all important information directly on the current institution website and official registers. If the website later acquires automated geocoding, each pin should be checked before treating it as a campus location.
